About Release Jersey
Release Jersey was built on a simple belief — that boxing, when taught well and with the right intentions, can be one of the most powerful tools for personal growth there is.
We are not a fight gym. We are a structured, person-led support programme that uses boxing to build confidence, discipline, and emotional resilience. Our sessions are calm, safe, and adapted to the individual — whether that's a child navigating school challenges, a young person in a holiday club, or an adult looking to improve their wellbeing.
Everything we do is rooted in over 25 years of combined experience working with people across sporting and non-sporting environments, with and without additional needs. Safeguarding, inclusion, and individual progress sit at the heart of every session we deliver.
Meet the team
Joe - Founder & Coach
Joe grew up in a boxing family and first stepped into a gym at the age of 10. What started as a sport became a lifelong passion; and eventually, a calling.
Over more than 13 years working with individuals with and without additional needs, Joe has seen first-hand how boxing can unlock potential in people who have struggled to find their place elsewhere. That experience shapes everything about how Release Jersey operates.
Joe is an England Boxing qualified coach, fully first aid trained, and serves as Release Jersey's Designated Safeguarding Lead. Outside of Release Jersey, he volunteers as a junior boxing coach at Jersey Leonis Boxing Club.
Rachel - Holiday Clubs & Engagement Lead
Rachel brings warmth, expertise, and a deep understanding of children's needs to everything she does at Release Jersey.
She co-leads the boxing holiday clubs and oversees the organisation's social media and community engagement. With over 12 years' experience supporting children — including a specialism in working with children with Autism — Rachel ensures that every participant feels seen, safe, and supported.
Rachel holds a Level 3 qualification in Childcare, a Level 3 in Counselling Skills, and is a fully trained Mental Health First Aider. She also volunteers with Mind's Peer Support Programme, reflecting a genuine commitment to mental health and community support that extends well beyond her role here.
Every programme is tailored to the individual. Let's talk about yours.
